CITYGIRL ❤️ FARMBOY
Welcome!
My name is Becky Cruz, affectionately known as “City Girl.” After 29 years as a hairstylist in Bakersfield, California, I began an exciting new chapter of life in May 2023 when I became “the farmer’s wife!” On May 13, 2023, I married my husband, Adrian Cruz—better known as “Farm Boy.” Together, we share a beautiful blended family of adult children and a granddaughter.
Our love story began at a gala in Bakersfield, where I wore a long red dress and first met Adrian, a second-generation farmer from Terra Bella. Despite our very different backgrounds, the contrast between City Girl and Farm Boy only brought us closer together. Inspired by this connection, I created Citygirl Loves Farmboy, a business that celebrates our shared passions and combines our worlds in unique ways.
A natural progression of this idea was launching our pistachio business with the tagline “Love Them Nuts.” Adrian’s knowledge as a farmer and his trucking business have given me a front-row seat to the incredible process of growing, harvesting, and hauling pistachios. My fascination with agriculture began when I attended my first Pistachio Conference in 2019—it was an eye-opening experience that deepened my appreciation for the hard work and dedication behind every crop.
Of course, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. In 2019, I suffered the heartbreaking loss of my daughter Brooke to an accidental fentanyl overdose. She was just 33 years old. While this loss changed me forever, it also gave me purpose. For the past few years, I’ve been facilitating grief support groups for parents who’ve lost children to substance overdose through Hoffman Hospice in Bakersfield. Helping others navigate their grief has been both rewarding and healing.
Thank you for letting me share my story. Through Citygirl Loves Farmboy, I hope to inspire connection, celebrate the beauty of agriculture, and honor the experiences that have shaped who I am.
